Rick Russo's Art of Horseshoeing

Professional Farrier

About Me
Hi, let me introduce myself.  My name is Rick Russo.  I was born and raised in Vermont and shod performance and pleasure horses there from 1996 until 2004.  In Vermont I worked closely with local veterinarians and specialized in therapeutic shoeing, and many other disciplines.
In 2004, finally fed up with the cold winters of the northeast, I  relocated to sunny Ocala, Florida, which at the time was considered by some to be the horse capital of the world.  Shoeing in the moist conditions of Florida enabled me to increase my skills to adapt to the extreme changes in hoof structure throughout the year.
In 2011, my fiance’ Shelli, a specialty pediatrics Registered Nurse, was offered a position in the San Diego area, so we decided to relocate to Southwest Escondido, California in order to help us both pursue our passions.
I am an American Farriers Association Certified Farrier. Continuing education keeps me abreast of changes in the hoof care industry.  I have experience in a broad range of shoeing skills that enable me to provide the best of care to keep your horse in peak condition.  I have the knowledge and experience to assist you with hoof  problems or sudden lameness. I will work closely with you and your veterinarian to regain soundness.  I believe most problems can be corrected with a bit of dedication between myself,  you,  your veterinarian, and a bit common sense.
I provide honest, gentle, and reliable service while achieving the highest quality hoof care for both performance, hoof health and an over all sound body.  While it’s great to share my story, the best way is to show you my work.  I look forward to meeting you and the opportunity to work with your horses.
See you soon,
